How often do you change the design of your website? According to some studies, a vast majority of web professionals and businesses are re-designing their sites once in 1-2 years. For most of users a poor design is the main reason to mistrust a website.

To visualize the evolution of website design of some popular brands, Jacinthe Busson created a nice little resource called UX Timeline. It illustrates the websites of well known brands and their change over time. It uses the Wayback Machine service to extract snapshots of web pages at certain moments of time. You can also preview the mobile app design evolution for respective Android and iOS apps.

Browsing these examples we can notice how web design trends changed over time, now embracing simpler, colorful, flat and mobile friendly layouts. Let’s have a look:
